Athlete of the Week
Congratulations Francina Doyle from Alberta!
March 10th, 2020
Francina reached 1000 KM in less than 2 months. See how she did it!
Getting to Know Francina!
How did you hear about A Great Canadian Running Challenge?
This is my first year. My pastor, a friend, told me about it.
How often do you walk?
Every day. It’s rare that I miss it. I have always been a power walker. I can’t remember when I did not walk.
How do you stay motivated and find the time to walk?
I am motivated by competition, often just with myself. I don’t want to break patterns. I am also a person who needs movement to plan, think, wind down, wind up. It’s how I deal with mental health. I get up early before the rest of my day has to start and go.
What was your greatest obstacle while aiming to reach 1000 KM?
I didn’t really have any obstacles. It’s part of my routine to get up and go, so I just do. There would be more obstacles in my life if I didn’t do this.
What advice would you give someone to stay focused on reaching 1000 KM in 2020?
As hard as it may be to go every day, it’s worth it. And it’s WAY harder to start all over. Just go.

Wow!! Amazing effort, Francina!! I needed to see this today, as I haven’t been doing much because of crappy weather and really need to get my arse on the go!
