Our Featured Athlete, Pam Wilson from Ontario, did not allow her greatest obstacle to stop her from reaching her health and fitness goals!
“I heard about A Great Canadian Running Challenge through a good friend who mentioned participating in the event. I decided to look into it because it sounded like a great way to stay motivated, especially during lockdowns! I began a health and fitness journey almost two years ago that has changed my life!
I am a walker. I walk anywhere and everywhere!! Walking every single day is a part of my daily routine! I love the exercise, and I especially love new scenery!
If I am feeling unmotivated to get my walk in, I rely on my husband to give me the extra push I need! He is also reaching his own health and fitness goals and I sometimes need to give him the push he needs to stay motivated. We make a great team!
My greatest obstacle has been our Canadian winters. It is very difficult to get out for my walks on those cold winter days when I would prefer to stay inside.
Are you struggling with motivation?
If you are struggling to reach your goals, don’t give up. It takes time to set new routines and goals. Be kind and patient with yourself, and always remember that there will always be a tomorrow to try all over again if you stumble. Getting healthy and establishing new routines is a process, not a quick fix. It takes time, dedication and a lot of hard work, but so worth it in the end.
Two years ago, if someone would have told me that I would have a gym membership one day, walk daily and be physically fit and active, I would have laughed out loud!
I am a wife and mother of three! I started a journey to a healthier me on May 14, 2019! I lost 100 lbs by walking daily and changing my diet. I recently gained back 10lbs, and so this 2021 A Great Canadian Running Challenge was a perfect opportunity to get back on track! This year’s journey begins and I plan on staying healthy and strong!
My goal is to lose another 20 lbs., so here is to smashing my new 2021 goals!!!”
