Stay positive and KEEP ON WALKING!!!
Did you walk, jog or run this challenge?
Combination
How did you start running and why?
My husband and I retired 2 years ago. My husband Jack Gordon hiked the Camino in Spain last fall (800km in 25 days) and my daughter ran a half marathon last summer. We decided as a family to run the 10KM Sun Run in Vancouver, so I decided to start running in June of 2019. I had not run in over 45 years and was very surprised that I enjoyed it. I started slow and added distance each day until I hit my goal to run 10KM in under 75 min. My best time was 69 minutes 🙂
I have been hiking, running and walking my two small dogs since the challenge began in January, and I was amazed at how quickly the kilometres accumulated.
How often do you walk and run?
I get out 5-6 days a week and do a minimum of 7-12 KM! I enjoy one rest day every 4th walk/run.
What was your greatest obstacle while aiming to reach 1000KM?
My greatest obstacles are backaches and age. However, my favourite saying is, “How old would you be if you did not know how old you are?”
How do you stay motivated and find the time to walk and run?
My husband is a great inspiration.
What advice would you give someone to stay focused on reaching 1000KM in 2020?
Never give up! I have started collecting rocks on my hikes and hope to one day paint one that states One Day or Day One. You decide!
Great work Linda and thank you for sharing a part of your story with us! We wish you the best of luck in reaching 3000KM in 2020!

I love your favourite saying!!
