Athlete of the Day

Sharon Fazzari from Ontario

I love this challenge and look forward to continuing with it! I encourage everyone to just do it!

Did you walk, jog or run this challenge?

I am a daily walker and I just kept increasing the amount I walked every day. Since the Covid-19, I have added another walk into my day.

How often do you walk and run?

Every day, twice a day, I walk, rain or shine.

What was your greatest obstacle while aiming to reach 1000KM?

I would say some days were miserable in the rain but I wore rain gear so I was okay.

How do you stay motivated and find the time to walk and run?

Many days, I talk to a very good friend and we pass the time catching up with each other. If she isn’t available, I usually listen to great playlists. I really enjoy being outside and getting fresh air. Chatting or listening to tunes is great! Of course, it helps that I am retired too!

What advice would you give someone to stay focused on reaching 1000KM in 2020?

Be patient and try to make walking a part of your daily routine. Don’t be too hard on yourself, just get out and do what you can! If you can’t get out for some reason, walk around your house/apartment to get moving. Baby steps still move you forward.

Sharon completed 1000KM in less than 5 months and is very close to reaching her second goal of 2000KM! You can follow her progress here.

Great work Sharon and thank you for sharing a part of your story with us!
